Port Townsend Saturday Market 9/22/2001

Saturday, September 22, 2001 10AM-1PM

It was a lovely first day of fall. It started out cool and sunny and was in the 70s by the time the day was done. We had a grand time. Notes from Barb's take on the day. Other takes may vary.

David and bagpipes David on pipes and singing -- probably Grey Funnel Line. Note the pick stuck into his watchband? This is so he doesn't lose them. You can see Elizabeth's hand playing fiddle.

Everyone but the person tuning Judging from David's face, Matt's playing. David and I have intrusive headphone microphones. They work, but they can look pretty silly. By now, I'm getting sunburned. Do I care? No. Doesn't David look cute with his microphone on his nose? We're talking about getting red windscreens so we can look like seals.

Elizabeth and Liam The sun was just at the angle to make sure that our two fair-skinned dark-haired men were in the sun all day. Liam and Matt both had SPF45 sunscreen on to deal with the first day of Fall.

Elizabeth Gale I love this shot of Elizabeth. It's tough to get a picture of her that she likes. I feel the same. So we're not talking about the fact that I'm in the shot, too.

Matt and David Now it's an eye patch. Matt's squinting against the sun. And getting warm. And tired. And burned.

David and Barb The instrument is a Celtic bouzouki or Octave Mandolin. It isn't quite a Cittern, tho David says he wants one ... after his next two flutes.

Someday we'll get a photo of the backstage where David, Liam, and Matt try to vie for numbers of instruments. Matt's winning right now. He has three guitars [Larry, Marty and Dean -- see the instrument list on the Crooked Mile home page], his boudhran, an egg [wood, filled with metal beads], and more. David usually carries his bouzouki, pipes, flute, and boudhran to gigs. Liam has bass, flutes and whistles. Then there's our sound system. Needless to say, we don't all travel to gigs in one vehicle.
